Are You A Cultural Creative?
December 18, 2008
If you are reading my blog, you probably are one. According to a very recent Wikipedia entry from Nov. 24, 2008, Cultural Creatives is a term coined by sociologist Paul H. Ray and psychologist Sherry Ruth Anderson to describe a large segment in Western society that has recently developed beyond the standard paradigm of Modernists versus Traditionalists or Conservatists. The concept was presented in 2000 in their book The Cultural Creatives. How 50 Million People Are Changing the World (Harmony Books, NY), where they claim to have found that 50 million adult Americans (slightly over one quarter of the adult population) can now be identified as belonging to this group. They estimated that there were another 80 to 90 million cultural creatives in Europe in 2000. The term first caught my attention listening to Marc Allen’s Visionary Wealth course. Please check it out. If you are reading my blog, you probably are one.
Just In Time For the New Year - A Video to Encourage You!
December 18, 2008
Exactly one year ago last week, I created an inspirational video entitled “Step Out In Faith.” It was part of a motivational speaking contest set in place by my Coach, John Di Lemme. Making that video was one of the most difficult things I have ever accomplished because I had to dig deep into my heart to find the courage and my own voice. A lot has changed in this past year. Miraculously, I have taken my own advice and stepped out in faith. In February ‘08, I left a sales and marketing job in the hospitality field to go back into my own marketing business full time. Some folks said “what are you nuts - do you know how tough the economy is?” etc. But I was undeterred. Now, a year later, the economy is “even worse” but I am still undeterred. Furthermore, my husband has stepped out in faith and joined me full time. I am grateful that God has given me the grace and the strength to move forward. The opening line to last year’s post still applies: In this busy holiday season with the prospect of the New Year looming, maybe you could use a little emotional “pick-me-up.” I sincerely hope to encourage you, to cheer you on and to share our knowledge and experience in the new year. God bless and keep you,
Dreaming of a Silent Night?
December 17, 2008
Snoring or gasping for breath? This guy could save your life…. Obstructive Sleep Apnea, or OSA is a growing health concern, especially as our population ages. Untreated, it greatly increases your chance of heart attack, diabetes, obesity and stroke! Just ask Dr. Jonathan Greenburg, a Southern California dentist who successfully treats sleep apnea. His year-end campaign, “Dreaming of a Silent Night” addresses a problem affecting millions of us - putting care for our own health low on the priority list. If you or someone you know suffers from snoring or untreated sleep apnea, you can learn about treatment options on his site: www.apnea-treatment.com.
If you have trouble justifying taking the time to care for your health or spending the money on living longer and better, you are not alone. Fortunately, there are solutions available, along with education, support and encouragement. Maybe, together, we need to update our priorities in the new year.
Visionary Wealth by Marc Allen
December 17, 2008

I am from Marin County. That fact alone gives me a bona fide “self-help” pedigree. I’ve been through many self-actualization and creative visualization programs. As an online entrepreneur, our best coaches including the great Stephen Pierce and John Di Lemme promote positive motivation, goal setting, as you think, so you are. Not to mention the Secret/Law of Attraction. This to say these concepts are not “new” to me. Well sometimes the right teacher comes along at the right time. For me, right now, that teacher is Marc Allen, specifically, his “Visionary Wealth” or Millionaire Course. Read more
New Look for The Michael Hingson Group
December 17, 2008
You may have seen my earlier post regarding Michael Hingson, WTC survivor and motivational speaker. Did I mention that he escaped the WTC collapse with remarkable teamwork with his Guide Dog, Roselle? Dave and I have been working with Michael to redo his website. The thing you should know, the “inside scoop” so to speak is that Michael is a computer genius with a masters in physics, world traveler, Ambassador for the National Braille Institute, Assistive Technology expert, among other things such as an all-around charming, wonderful, funny and kind person. Please check out his new site for The Michael Hingson Group. Read more
Myth Expelled! Great Minds Do Exist in the Antelope Valley.
December 17, 2008
This Saturday, December 20th, Juan Roberts of Creative Lunacy hosted a Branding Boot Camp for the Antelope Valley. Juan asked me to make a brief presentation on “branding.” At first, I thought he meant a “how to” but on further reflection, I am motivated to facilitate a discussion about branding the Antelope Valley. Where I started with help from my amazingly perceptive husband and business partner Dave was with the question: what is the current perception of the Antelope Valley - the brand?
